The Complete Healing Process

The 15-day retreat represents the full healing process as it is held at Takinuna Healing Centre.

All retreats at the centre unfold within a shared structure. Some participants take part in a shorter period of this process, while others remain for the full fifteen days, allowing the work with the medicine to continue with greater continuity.

Working with Amazonian plant medicine is understood as a process that develops over time. Within fifteen days, participants are able to move through different stages of the work, supported by ceremony, plant treatments, and integration.

At the same time, the healing process is not understood as something that begins and ends within the retreat itself. What is opened during these days often continues to unfold afterwards, as insights, emotional processes, and personal understanding gradually integrate into everyday life.

In this sense, the 15-day retreat holds a complete cycle of work with the medicine, while remaining part of an ongoing process of healing that continues beyond the time spent at the centre.

The Depth of the 15-Day Process

Working with plant medicine often unfolds gradually. When more time is available, participants can remain with the process as it develops, allowing deeper layers of understanding and emotional integration to emerge.

The 15-day retreat offers the opportunity to work with the medicine over a longer period, supported by ceremony, traditional plant treatments, and therapeutic integration. During these two weeks, participants work with Ayahuasca, Bobinsana, and Huachuma, three master plants that accompany different aspects of the healing process.

Ayahuasca ceremonies open the space for insight and inner exploration. Bobinsana supports the emotional dimension of the work, helping soften and process what arises. Huachuma ceremonies take place during the daytime in nature, inviting clarity, grounding, and connection with the natural world.

With more time between and around these experiences, participants are able to reflect, rest, and integrate the process as it unfolds. This extended format often allows the healing work to develop with greater continuity, supporting a deeper and more stable integration of the experience.

Working with Three Master Plants

During the 15-day retreat, participants work with three master plants — Ayahuasca, Bobinsana, and Huachuma — each one accompanying different dimensions of the healing process.

Ayahuasca ceremonies open the central space of the process, often bringing attention to emotional patterns, memories, and inner movements that may require care and understanding.

Bobinsana, a traditional Amazonian master plant associated with the emotional and heart-centered dimension of healing, accompanies the Ayahuasca medicine throughout the retreat. Around the middle of the process, a ceremony with Bobinsana on its own offers participants a space to connect more directly with this plant and the emotional integration it supports.

Toward the end of the retreat, participants take part in a Huachuma ceremony held during the daytime in nature. Huachuma, a cactus medicine from the Andes, is traditionally approached as a medicine of clarity, grounding, and connection with the natural world.

Working with these three plants within the same retreat allows the process to unfold gradually, supported by different perspectives of healing while remaining held within the ceremonial guidance of the shamans and the integration spaces that accompany the work.

The Rhythm of the 15-Day Retreat

The 15-day retreat unfolds through a sequence of ceremonies, plant treatments, and integration spaces that support the healing process over time.

Working with plant medicine often develops gradually. Each ceremony may open new layers of understanding, while the days between ceremonies allow space for rest, reflection, and integration.

During the retreat, participants take part in:

  • Five Ayahuasca ceremonies, guided by experienced Amazonian shamans
  • One Bobinsana ceremony, offered around the middle of the retreat
  • One Huachuma ceremony, held during the daytime toward the end of the process

Between ceremonies, participants receive traditional plant treatments such as plant baths, mapacho cleansings, and rapé sessions, as well as integration spaces that support reflection and emotional processing.

Rapé is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine prepared from powdered tobacco and medicinal plants, and is offered in a respectful and guided way to support grounding, clarity, and energetic alignment during the process.

This rhythm — ceremony, integration, rest, and reflection — allows the work with the medicine to unfold with continuity throughout the fifteen days.

Care and support during a 15-day ayahuasca retreat at Takinuna Healing Centre

Care, Safety and Ongoing Support

The 15-day retreat is held in a small and carefully supported setting, allowing each participant to be accompanied with attention throughout the process.

The retreat is guided by experienced Amazonian shamans, who lead the ceremonial work and support the process through icaros, plant treatments, and attentive presence. Alongside them, a psychologist supports the integration process, and a small team helps maintain the space and accompany participants during the retreat.

During the ceremonies, the shamans guide and protect the process, while a team of caregivers remains present throughout the night, offering support whenever it is needed. This allows participants to move through their experience knowing they are being held in a safe and supportive environment.

Before arriving at the retreat, participants complete a health and preparation form, allowing the team to understand each person’s background and ensure that the process is appropriate and safe.

Care, safety, and respect for the medicine are central to the way the work is held at Takinuna.
