Ayahuasca Integration

At Takinuna Healing Centre, Ayahuasca integration is the bridge between the sacred world of the plants and the life we return to. Healing becomes complete when the experiences from the ceremonies are understood, grounded, and expressed with consciousness.
Every retreat includes professional psychological support and ancestral guidance from our shamans, who together help you make sense of the visions, emotions, and lessons received from the medicine.

A Unique Ayahuasca Integration Approach

Our ayahuasca integration process is led by Florencia Ferrari, Licensed Clinical Psychologist (BA Psychology) and Art Psychotherapist (MA Art Psychotherapy, Roehampton University, UK) who is also training in Amazonian shamanism, in partnership with our Master Healers — highly experienced Amazonian Shamans with decades of ancestral practice.

Our Integration Pathways

Professional Psychological Support

Integration unfolds mainly through group sharing circles, where participants reflect on their experiences and receive both psychological and ancestral insight. When needed, individual guidance is also available, ensuring that everyone feels supported throughout their process.

Creative Art Therapy — Integrating the Ayahuasca Visionary Language

As Ayahuasca often speaks through visions and symbols, art therapy invites you to paint and work with this visual language, helping emotions and insights take form and meaning.
Art becomes another kind of medicine — intuitive and deeply healing.

Nature-based Therapy

Florencia also holds postgraduate training in Environmental Art Psychotherapy, a nature-based therapeutic approach that bridges creativity and ecological awareness.
While this work will be developed further as we create dedicated spaces in nature, its spirit already inspires our integration process.

A Multidisciplinary and Ancestral Path of Healing

Our Ayahuasca integration model is one of the few in the Peruvian Amazon

  • Traditional plant medicine led by native shamans.
  • Professional psychological guidance with a licensed and experienced psychotherapist.
  • Creative art therapy and ecotherapy as complementary healing tools.

During integration, the shamans share their interpretations of visions and energetic processes, offering ancestral understanding that complements the psychologist’s therapeutic perspective.
This respectful exchange allows each participant to receive guidance from both the spiritual and psychological worlds, leading to profound and complete healing.

Psychotherapy — Compassionate Integration of the Visionary Experience

At Takinuna, psychotherapy is more than emotional support — it is a path of inner exploration and transformation that complements the ancestral guidance of our shamans.
Rooted in Jungian psychology, our approach sees each person as a whole being — conscious and unconscious, personal and ancestral. Ayahuasca ceremonies often brings forth material from the depths of our being: archetypes, inner wounds, shadow aspects, and memories that hold emotional or spiritual meaning. Psychotherapy offers a grounded space to explore these visions, dreams, and symbols with clarity and compassion.
Florencia’s way of working is based on attentive listening, deep care, and compassion — creating a safe and non-judgmental space where each person feels seen and supported. Through this gentle presence, participants are guided to understand the personal meaning of their experiences and integrate them into their emotional and spiritual growth.
The intention is not to analyze the medicine, but to honour what it reveals, allowing the psyche to heal through awareness, reflection, and connection.

Giving Form to the Visionary Language of Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca often speaks through images, colors, and symbols — a visual language that expresses what words cannot.
Through art therapy, participants are invited to explore this language creatively, translating visions and emotions into form through painting, drawing, collage, or intuitive expression.
This is not about artistic skill, but about presence and self-discovery — allowing the inner world to flow into color and shape. In this sacred act of creation, emotions find release, insights take root, and the unconscious gently meets awareness.
Florencia accompanies this process with attentive listening and deep care, offering a safe and supportive space where creativity becomes healing.
Art therapy at Takinuna often reveals meaningful messages, helps process experiences non-verbally, and leaves a lasting symbol of transformation to carry home after the retreat.

Nature-based Therapy

In the rainforest, nature is not a background — it is a presence, a teacher, and a healer.
Through ecotherapy, also known as nature-based therapy, participants are invited to reconnect with the natural world as a mirror for their own healing. Mindful walks in the forest, barefoot grounding, quiet observation of the river, or meditative connection with a tree all become ways to listen to the wisdom of the earth.
Rooted in Florencia’s training in Environmental Art Psychotherapy, this approach recognizes that the human inner-self and nature are intertwined. The rainforest itself offers calm, clarity, and grounding after the ceremonies have ended — reminding us that healing continues through relationship with the living world.
Ecotherapy helps you return to your body, regulate your nervous system, and embody the teachings of the plants — allowing understanding to move from the mind into lived experience.
