Master Plant Retreats and Dietas in Peru
Through the Yachay Wasi Path and the Takinuna Path, participants can explore master plant retreats and dietas in Peru while engaging with Ayahuasca, the master plants, and the ancestral wisdom of the Peruvian Amazon.
Two Paths, Many Possibilities
Through the Yachay Wasi Path and the Taki Nuna Path, participants can explore master plant retreats and dietas in Peru while engaging with Ayahuasca, the master plants, and the ancestral wisdom of the Peruvian Amazon.
For this reason, we offer two complementary paths of healing and learning, each containing different retreat and dieta possibilities that can be explored in conversation with the shamans. These paths invite participants to encounter the master plants and, over time, begin cultivating a relationship with their medicines and teachings.
Rather than offering one fixed path for everyone, we offer a carefully held framework of healing and learning possibilities. Through different retreats and dietas, participants can approach the master plants in ways that honour the different intentions, circumstances, and stages of life that bring them to this work.
The Yachay Wasi Paths
The Paths of the House of Medicine
Yachay Wasi means “House of Medicine” in Quechua. This path is founded on the understanding that meaningful work with the master plants often begins by gradually preparing and filling the house of the body and spirit with their medicines and teachings.
Through Ayahuasca and other master plants, participants are invited into a process of healing and learning that unfolds through ceremony, traditional plant treatments, guidance from Amazonian shamans, and time spent in relationship with the rainforest and its rhythms.

The Takinuna Paths
The Paths of the Song of the Spirit
In Quechua, Taki means “song” and Nuna means “spirit.” This path arises from the understanding that, for some people, the work with the master plants does not feel complete when the retreat comes to an end. After spending time with the medicines, some feel called to remain longer, to continue learning, healing, and listening more deeply to what the plants may still have to teach.
The Takinuna Path offers an opportunity to continue this work through healing and learning dietas. While the retreat creates an initial encounter with the master plants, a dieta allows for additional time, simplicity, and quiet, creating conditions in which a relationship with particular plants can gradually begin to be cultivated.
Rather than a separate program, the Takinuna Path is a continuation of the House of Medicine. It invites participants to remain in close relationship with the medicines, the shamans, and the rhythms of the Amazon, creating space for deeper healing, learning, and spiritual discovery.
A Continuing Journey
Walking the Takinuna Path
Choose a Retreat within the Yachay Wasi Path
The Takinuna Path begins within the House of Medicine. Participants first take part in a retreat, creating a foundational encounter with Ayahuasca and the master plants through ceremony, traditional practices, and guidance from the shamans.
Explore Healing and Learning Dietas
For those who feel called to remain longer, the path may continue through a healing or learning dieta. Different dieta possibilities create opportunities to spend additional time with particular master plants and to explore the medicines in greater depth and simplicity.
Continue the Path in Conversation with the Shamans
Because every person’s intentions and circumstances are different, the path is explored in conversation with the shamans. Together, participants and shamans can consider the retreat and dieta possibilities that best support the work while remaining within the framework and traditions of Takinuna.
Step 2
Explore Healing and Learning Dietas
Different plants may be approached at different moments of the path, according to each participant’s experience, intentions, and readiness.
Beginner Dietas
A gentle introduction to healing and learning dietas through master plants that are often approached earlier in the path. These dietas may include Bobinsana, Ajo Sacha, Corazón Sacha, Camalonga, and other suitable medicines.
Intermediate Dietas
An opportunity to spend additional time with master plants that may invite deeper learning, discipline, and commitment to the work. These dietas may include Chiric Sanango, Huaira Caspi, Punga, Tobacco (Mapacho), and other suitable medicines.
Experienced Dietas
For those who feel called to longer periods of immersion and work with master plants traditionally approached later in the path. These dietas may include Ayahuma, Toe, Lupuna, Huachuma, and other suitable medicines.
Finding Your Way
Choosing a Path with the Shamans
At Takinuna, we understand that there is no single path that is right for everyone. People arrive with different intentions, life circumstances, levels of experience, and questions that bring them to the master plants.
For this reason, the choice of retreats and dietas is approached through conversation with the shamans. Together, we explore the possibilities offered within the Yachay Wasi and Takinuna Paths and consider which options may best support each person’s intentions and readiness for the work.
This approach allows for meaningful possibilities while remaining within a carefully held framework rooted in the traditions, practices, and experience of Amazonian plant medicine.

Every Path Begins with an Encounter
Whether participants arrive through healing retreats or through a deeper process of learning, every path begins with an encounter: with Ayahuasca, with the master plants, with the wisdom carried by the shamans, and with the inner movements that call each person into this work.
In this sense, master plant retreats and dietas in Peru are not approached as fixed formulas, but as living processes that unfold through relationship, preparation, and guidance. Each encounter opens a way of listening more closely to the medicines and to the teachings they may reveal through time.
At Takinuna, these encounters are held with care so that each person can begin in a way that honours their intentions, supports their process, and allows the relationship with Ayahuasca and the master plants to deepen naturally.
